Local property and auctioneering firm, Cheffins, has announced a new three-year partnership with Saffron Walden Rugby Club. The partnership will see Cheffins provide funding to support the club at every level, from the mini teams right through to the First XV.
Cheffins, which celebrated its 200-year anniversary last year, was founded in Saffron Walden in 1825 and has played an integral part in the local community since.
Bruce King, Partner at Cheffins in Saffron Walden says: “We are delighted to ramp up our support of Saffron Walden Rugby Club. We have backed the club since 2019, however we’ve now taken the decision to become principal sponsor as we see the integral value in supporting something which is such an integral part of Saffron Walden community. Cheffins roots are firmly planted in Saffron Walden and the surrounding area and we are always looking for ways to benefit the local community, and in particular, younger generations. We wish all of the teams at Saffron Walden the best of success for the coming season and look forward to watching their progress over the coming months.”
The partnership will see Cheffins represented across the club throughout the season, with branded kit for all teams and the firm supporting its development both on and off the pitch.
During its 200-year celebrations, Cheffins raised over £270,000 for charity, with the majority of funds going to the Cambridge Children’s Hospital alongside other local charities.
Saffron Walden Rugby Club President, Kevin Moll, is delighted with the new partnership. "Cheffins have been supporting the club for a while now, and their support has been gratefully received. Bruce King has had one of his sons play in the junior set-up and has seen first-hand the club's offering for youngsters and adults alike.
The club's aim is to provide a rugby experience for all ages and to be a centre of excellence in Uttlesford. Cheffins' increased partnership helps us maintain that aim. One of the biggest estate agents in the area is supporting one of the biggest sporting clubs."
Saffron Walden Rugby Club is a very friendly club with over 250 youngsters playing and 90 adults, with the start of a women's team and aspirations for girls' rugby to follow.
